Apple working on OS X 10.7
Never a company to rest too long on its laurels, even if they include record operating system sales, Apple gives every sign of being hard at work on the next big cat, OS X 10.7.
Of course, Apple started on the architecture and design of 10.7 before Snow Leopard was out the door, because that’s the way the operating system business works. Now the first bit of evidence to start stoking the rumor mill has been smoked out in a MacRumor story and it is officially open season on 10.7 rumors. The evidence was discovered in a cryptic entry in a list of error messages which, using insider notation, mentions Apple’s next OS.
The latest evidence was noticed in an entry posted in a database of changes to the open source “launchd” framework. The launchd process oversees the boot process of Mac OS X and manages processes running on the system. Specifically, the log entry in question cites an error message containing the text string “11A47″, which references the OS X build number being used, in this case 10.7. If it has problems, it must therefore exist.
Although it is no surprise that the new version is being worked on, it does give us time to begin to reflect on what may be coming with the new version. Most of the changes in 10.6 were under the hood, both new and improved code that made the system work better, but little that was obvious in the interface. It has been rumored (and would make sense) if 10.7 were to make sweeping changes in system graphics and usability, always an event anticipated with a certain hunger by Mac users.
And, of course, there is the matter of the code name for 10.7. One would think that it would be a creature in the cat family, the bigger and more exotic the better. One wonders if our readers would like to take a stab at which feline will be honored by OS X 10.7?

Maybe Siberian Tiger?
But that of course wouldn’t make sense considering Tiger’s already been and gone. Sabre tooth does seem to be popular as of late though.

may be “Lion”

I think cougar is the best bet.
Sabre tooth’s are extinct – not a good correlation for a company. “Yes, our operating system is like an extinct cat.”
Lion is good – but lions are “king of the jungle.” Once you do lion – you’re done. Time for a new naming scheme. This might also be an option though – because it would have been 10 years next march. 10 years of cat names, time to move on to something else.
idk. Anyones guess is as good as mine.

When you think about the fact it’s been 10 years, think about what apple does nearly every 10 years, they change the main name, who’s to say that 11A47 isn’t for Mac OS X| 11.0? chances are that’s what’s going to happen rather than to keep milking OS X and he big cats, I think more then likely they will move to the dog family, something like fox or wolf or mabey hyena. That just makes more sense to me, but you be the judge.
