Rumor: iTunes LP tools coming to iDVD
Apple’s album format for the digital age could be getting a big boost with authoring functionality said in the offing for Apple’s consumer grade DVD creation app as part of an overall iLife overhaul sometime next year.
Quoting one of their “connects,” Boy Genius Report reports that iDVD, which hasn’t seen a significant update in years, will be getting a complete makeover and be released as part of Apple’s catchall iLife 2010 refresh. The big new feature is, however, expected to be the inclusion of iTunes LP authoring functionality, which should give the fledgling digital album format a boost.
This will allow artists (indie and major) to create a custom iTunes LP and submit it directly to Apple right from the new application that will be a part of iLife 2010. This is unconfirmed at the moment, but our connect has been pretty accurate in the past and we thought you’d enjoy this little bit of information.”
Submit directly to the mothership? Hmm, that sounds an awful lot like the automagical submission process Apple mentioned last week.
So, Apple’s going to give away iTunes LP tools with every new Mac sold or sell to anyone existing (likely Intel) Mac owner as a simple, yet affordable $79 iLife upgrade? What a cunning plan…
What’s your take?
