Apple apologizes for iMac shipment delays

December 14, 2009

Do you want a new 27-inch iMac for Christmas? Then you’re going to have to wait until after the holiday because Apple’s listing these bodaciously beautiful all-in-one desktops as requiring a two-week wait before your order will ship.

On Sunday, Apple did something it doesn’t often do — apologized. Early shortages of the company’s new and often troublesome 27-inch iMacs have stretched into December with the mothership currently listing its two high end models with two week availability (Apple Store).

“The new iMac has been a huge hit and we are working hard to fulfill orders as quickly as possible,” said in a statement. “We apologize for any inconvenience or delay this may cause our customers.”

According to News.com, Apple declined to offer any reasons why the company hasn’t been able to meet demand for the 27-inch iMac. However, the Mac web is rife with reports of issues with these highly desirable all-in-ones, including reports of product damaged in transit and display issues.

Thereupon, web designed Scott Pronych has created iMac Squeaked, a place where 27-inch iMac owners can congregated and share war stories, and perhaps strategies for dealing the the problems and Apple.

Gotta 27-inch iMac? How that working out for you…
