Apple iPhone developer makes $1 million a month
If you have ever wondered how well the success of the Apple App Store translates into developer success, be advised that there is now one developer that is raking in nearly $1 million a month.
Tapulous, a developer of iPhone games, is apparently receiving checks from Apple for that cool million a month, not exactly chopped liver. The App Store has been a raving success by anyone’s standards, with stats that seem like something out of a fairy tale. One of the latest was a total of two billion downloads by October of this year. Apple and everyone connected with the company is both pleased and surprised by the level of activity, according to an Apple Insider story.
For example, Matt Murphy, partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the venture capital firm that created the first investment fund for iPhone developers, has said, “We had no idea there would be 2 billion downloads by October. Most people within Apple, if you had told them it would be a fifth of that by now, they would have been pretty happy.” Developers have been very busy, as well, with over 100,000 applications approved by the app store so far.
This success by Apple and the App Store has been mirrored by some app developers. Tapulous, the app development studio that is responsible for the “Tap Tap†series of rhythm games that have been so immensely popular, is the most stellar example of a successful app developer. Their games have millions of downloads each. Even at 99 cents per download, that can quickly add up to actual money.
With versions featuring he likes of Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Weezer and Lady Gaga, the TapTap games show no sign of slowing down, and in fact analysts feel that the the company will continue to grow as the iPhone and iPod Touch markets continue to explode. If you’re wondering of Apple ever did anything for anybody, just ask the folks at Tapulous.

Another boring story. Why don’t you talk about the other 90% of app developers wasting there time developing apps and not making any money developing apps for Apple’s iPhone platform. Or even better, Apples ridiculous “Review Process”.
