Every hard drive sold today includes built-in diagnostics designed to warn users before a disk actually fails, giving users a chance to backup and/or transfer data. However, if you’re relying on Disk Utility, OS X’s generally capable drive and disk tool, to give you advance notice of a disk crash, you may be in for a rude shock.

A crack team of analysts at the investment banking firm Morgan Stanley has published a report which concludes that Apple is 2 to 3 years ahead of their competition in the mobile computing marketplace.

Is this the end for the Miami, Florida-based hackintosh assembler? There’s an outside chance company could continue as a PC maker, but a federal judge has permanently banned the company from putting together and selling computers that run Mac OS X.
