Every time I read one of Greenpeace’s “greener electronics” guides, I always end up shaking my head in disbelief — they’re just that bad. Why? If anything, the environmental movement needs to adhere to the principles of science and good governance, but that’s not what we’re being sold.

This really needs saying right off the bat — Boxee is an iTunes killer. Granted, it hasn’t quite finished baking and the fillings still need a bit tweaking, as well. But, these guys have big ambitions and they’re within sniffing distance of achieving them.

The latest version of QuarkXpress, the venerable desktop publishing software developer, does not play nicely with certain Apple Mac systems, apparently those running Snow Leopard on some or all processors.

A Wall Street analyst said today that he has heard from his sources that the Apple tablet computer, due to be announced in a few weeks, will be able to use Verizon and other wireless carriers to connect to the Internet.

Since rumors of the Mac tablet, iPod touch on steroids or iSlate, if you prefer, started circulating, the question of whether it would be more Mac or iPhone-like have swirled without a definitive answer. Though Apple has yet to speak on the subject, fresh insights arose today with a launch date correction, confirmation of the device’s size and even a little insight on the future direction of Apple’s operating system plans.

Were it not Taiwanese OEM manufacturers we would probably “know” a lot less about Apple’s upcoming tablet — Mac tablet, iTablet, iPod touch on steroids, nay, iSlate. The downside is, of course, these sources and the information dribbled out to the eager masses often can’t be relied upon.

The first time I heard this rumor, my first thought was that somebody, at least one person, with a brain is obviously on the job at the automaker. That is, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer is widely regarded as a genius in his own right, a fact easily forgotten given the insanely great company he keeps.
