For pretty much everyone else selling stuff, Christmas 2009 was so-so at best. However, Apple not only posted yet another record holiday vis-a-vis Mac sales, the company saw computer volume shoot up over 30 percent in January, as well.

Yesterday, there was rampant speculation during the Developer Center Web site outage that Apple would announce important changes to its mobile — iPhone, iPod touch, iPad — program. Now, with the site back online, the changes have happened on the Mac side.

Apple has removed all applications that actively search for Wi-Fi connections from the App Store in iTunes, saying that they use a “private framework†and therefore violate a store regulation.
