MacBook Pro, iPad sales powering another record quarter?

May 11, 2010

Apple’s recent pro portable upgrade is being credited with keeping the company’s unit volume above 20 percent for the third consecutive quarter, powering what will likely be yet another record quarter.

The New Mexico Business Journal writes that the MacBook Pro — recently upgraded and critically well received — has been inspiring consumers to part with their money.

“Our sources indicate that Mac momentum is strong helped by a recent significant refresh of the MacBook Pro to new Intel Arrandale processors, offering much better price-performance and an industry best 8 to 10 hours of battery life,” says Shaw Wu, analyst, Kaufman Brothers.

Thereupon, Apple’s Mac business is tracking to its third consecutive quarter of better than 20 percent year-to-year unit growth, which will likely help the Cupertino, California-based company yet again post record quarterly revenue and profit numbers.

Billion dollar smile

Apple’s results will also be bolstered by the iPad, which to date has sold more than 1-million units in the US alone and will go on sale overseas on Friday, May 28. Pundits say the iPad will set a record for being the fastest new product to create $1 billion in new revenues, a mark the device will cross well before the end of the quarter.

Are you looking at a new MacBook Pro or is money still just too tight?
