Updated MacBook with nVidia 320M, 10-hour battery rolls

May 18, 2010

Once upon a time, Apple would have heralded the arrival of a speed-bumped MacBook with a press release properly festooned with a “fastest ever” quote from Phil Schiller or even the man himself. Now, however, the rest of us must make ourselves content merely with the joy of shiny new things.

Apple hasn’t announced the mid-2010 MacBook (specs), which is visually indistinguishable from the model they were selling yesterday, though there have been some notable changes under the hood, including a faster processor and, more importantly, faster integrated graphics:

The notebook for everyone. Now with more speed, power and battery life. Even with so much more to love, MacBook is still just $999.

Yes, the hard disk is still 250GB, RAM complement stuck firmly at 2GB and there’s the ever familiar 8X SuperDrive, too. So much more to love, indeed.

Well, the graphics and battery life are lovable, though you wouldn’t know it from viewing Apple’s homepage or even the general Mac landing page. How far we have sunk.

This speed bump brings the white MacBook in line with the company’s MacBook Pro line up, which was updated last month.

Been waiting for this bump or do you now adorn yourself (NSFW) with an iPad? Inquiring minds want to know…
