In the wake of this year’s “of, by and for” the iPhone 4 Worldwide Developer Conference, to say that Mac fans are hungry for news about the future of OS X is a huge understatement. A recent Apple job posting hinting at a “revolutionary new feature” has only served to feed this ravenous desire.

The promised big iron full-tower upgrade from Apple will be arriving in a bit over a week, which is perhaps a little surprising given that when most companies promise August delivery what they really mean is the last day of the month or even early September. Then again, Cupertino regularly under promises and over delivers.

This week’s iMac already shipping refresh saw the all-in-one receive significant internal upgrades. Likewise, the Mac Pro got big under-the-hood changes that will deliver a huge performance boost to the desktop when it ships in August. However, conspicuously absent in all of this is nVidia.

A little functionality love from Cupertino’s code meisters that extends undo and redo to playlist editing. However, don’t expect to delete a song from your library and then get it back by pressing Command + Z, it’s just not gonna work.

Apple has shipped an updated version of their popular WebKit-based browser, which officially delivers Extensions functionality a little ahead of schedule. Whereas developers and users have been using this feature essentially since v5.0 shipped back in June, now we have an Apple blessed gallery of extensions.

Some enterprising lawyers have decided that the common-sense injunction against using electronics in bright sunlight is not as good as a legal injunction, so they have filed a class actions lawsuit about overheating iPads.
