Apple to take 2010 Mac Pro orders from August 9, say reps

July 30, 2010

The promised big iron full-tower upgrade from Apple will be arriving in a bit over a week, which is perhaps a little surprising given that when most companies promise August delivery what they really mean is the last day of the month or even early September. Then again, Cupertino regularly under promises and over delivers.

MacRumors reports that both phone and online chat Apple Store representatives are saying that Apple will begin taking orders for the 2010 Mac Pro on Aug. 9. It’s currently unknown whether the company will have units in store for pickup on that date.

With models offering up to 12 hardware and 24 virtual processing cores as well as greatly improved ATI graphics, including the Radeon HD 5870 with 1GB of memory as a BTO option, this long overdue hardware upgrade — the Mac Pro was last updated in early 2009 — has been widely praised by pundits and users alike.

Are you ready to order a new 12-core Mac Pro with all the fixings?
