Apple teases faithful with talk of Mac ‘revolution’

July 31, 2010

In the wake of this year’s “of, by and for” the iPhone 4 Worldwide Developer Conference, to say that Mac fans are hungry for news about the future of OS X is a huge understatement. A recent Apple job posting hinting at a “revolutionary new feature” has only served to feed this ravenous desire.

Until now, I’ve resisted even having a look at the Apple job posting for an OS X software engineer. Given that bloggers and the media watch these help wanted listings for the slightest hint of what company might be planning, Apple knew exactly what it was doing when it teased us thusly:

    • Are you looking to help create something totally new? Something that has never been done before and will truly amaze everyone? Are you excited by the prospect that what you helped create would be used every day by millions of Apple customers? Then come and work on with the Mac OS X software engineering team to help build a new and revolutionary feature for Mac OS X.

What’s this new revolutionary feature Apple’s talking about (he says while reaching for his credit card)?!? Complete Internet/operating system integration? Digital Viagara? I’m amazed already, tempt me no more, give us the goods!

And, here we sit, putty in Apple’s hands again.

Well, that said, what do you think Apple’s talking about?
