Apple seeds OS X 10.6.5 to developers

August 14, 2010

The schedule for mothership’s fifth OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard update has slipped due to a change in focus to fixing graphics driver issues introduced by the last operating system update. Thereupon, OS X 10.6.5 Update isn’t expected until the Fall, perhaps in conjunction with the company’s regular Fall Mac hardware updates.

Developers have told AppleInsider (see also: MacRumors) that Apple has seeded the first Mac OS X 10.6.5 [10H525] developer build. This brewing update addresses problems with Exchange Server support, embedded WebKit views and graphics drivers.

Additionally, Apple’s asked devs to test iCal, Mail, print, OpenGL 3D graphics, QuickTime and X11.

Blorge previously reported that OS X 10.6.4 introduced gaming related performance issues. Now, Apple’s working to address these problems on two tracks — OS X 10.6.5 and the Snow Leopard Graphics Update, which was seeded to developers about a week ago.

What fixes and features are looking for in OS X 10.6.5?
