Apple’s iPhone assembly partner in China is giving new meaning to the phrase, “working without a net.” As the company tries to move beyond the suicide cluster that left at least 10 workers dead and its facilities draped in safety netting, we get to observe one of those uniquely Asian moments.

There is an inherent problem with the iPhone, even in its latest iteration. If you have email addresses that have been out in the open a long time, but which are your main addresses, you can’t find your actual email for all the spam.

It seems everybody — Apple, advertisers, developers — underestimated just how hard this would be and things are moving a good deal slower than anticipated. Nevertheless, for those companies with mobile ads already in circulation, the results have been more than encouraging.

The Apple manager in Cupertino that was arrested for alleged criminal activities has now been charged with wire fraud, money laundering and other offenses, as well as being named in an Apple civil lawsuit.

The schedule for mothership’s fifth OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard update has slipped due to a change in focus to fixing graphics driver issues introduced by the last operating system update. Thereupon, OS X 10.6.5 Update isn’t expected until the Fall, perhaps in conjunction with the company’s regular Fall Mac hardware updates.

A unique implementation of mostly plain vanilla PC hardware that’s designed to be compatible with any Darwin OS, meaning it’s Mac OS X ready. It’s essentially a netbook with a touchpad glommed on and there are plenty of questions about how usable it will be in practice.
