How to put iTunes 10′s buttons back

September 5, 2010

Abomination! It is a matter of Mac canon law that the close, hide and minimize buttons should always be aligned horizontally at the top left of every window. Well, if that’s the way you see it, then by all means let me be your facilitator.

Personally, I’m not against change for change’s sake. In fact, just the other day I absent mindedly left my iPad in the living room and chaos theory just took over — wife, kids, their grandparents — life hasn’t been the same since.

Good? Bad? Meh? I’m just saying…

Anyway, to put those red, green and amber jewels of Mac OS X user interface orthodoxy back where they below, you need to:

      Uno: Quit iTunes.

Dos: Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)

Tres: Type or paste “defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -1″ then hit Return (quit Terminal)

Catorce!: Open iTunes and see with your own eyes that order has been restored in the monoverse

Personally, I’m looking forward to a little chaos flowing from Apple’s iTunes 10 button heresy. Then again, I’ve always been something of a rebel…

By the way, have you seen my iPad?
