Zune syncing coming to the Mac
The closest thing to Microsoft software on my Mac is Flip4Mac, a set of third-party codecs that allows .wmv, etc. video to play on Apple computers. But, there are plenty of folks for whom Office, Outlook and a Windows smartphone are just parts of life.
NeoWin, quoting a tweet from U.K. Windows Phone marketing dude Oded Ran, reports that Zune software for the Mac, which will allow Zune and Windows Phone 7 syncing, will be arriving soon.
Shocking? Believable? Well, Microsoft should be going for as many customers as they can and the Mac is in the ascendent. Further, the rest of us are known to spend freely when we find what we want and nobody pollinates ideas like we do.
Are you considering a Windows Phone 7? On paper and in the copious reviews to date, it looks like a fine device. Thereupon, Mac compatibility could make it an attractive choice…
What’s your take?

Actually, the first lead I wrote for this story was in a similar vein.
“Imagine a millipede — the big, jungle gnarly kind that spits and hisses — crawling over your naked foot. That’s how I feel about Zune whatever coming to the Mac.”

I wonder what it will “sync” with:
iTunes? Only the DRM free stuff (no videos for you). What formats does Zune support anyway, I couldn’t find it on their web site?
WM files? Macs are only allowed to use WM9 or earlier (and that support only comes from a third party, not MS). All the paid online services that use WM (the ones that haven’t moved on to open formats after the plays-for-sure fiasco) use version 10 or newer.
Exchange Servers? That’s a premium service (aka, not free – see Office’s Outlook).
MobileMe? Not bloody likely.
Seems to me that their history of being openly and deliberately hostile towards the Mac is going bite them on the butt on this one.
