OS X 10.6.5 delivers 134 patches
The mothership’s previous record for problems patched of 90 was set back in the second quarter of this year. Nevertheless, celebrity Mac hacker Charlie Miller has popped up — palm planted firmly on forehead — to say that Apple didn’t fix any of the vulnerabilities he identified.
Just the delta update is 600-plus megabytes. The combo updater weighs nearly a gigabyte. Wow, can you say dial-up?
Thereupon, Macworld UK reports that Mac OS X 10.6.5 delivers 134 patches, which is 46 percent more patches than the previous record of 90 set way, way, way back in March. And, yes, Adobe’s Flash was the single-biggest source of discreet patches in this update, accounting for 41 percent of the total.
If you thought it couldn’t get any better, then you need to hear the words of Charlie “The main thing is not to install Flash” Miller.
“Apple releases huge patch, still miss all my bugs,” said Miller in a tweet late Wednesday. “Makes you realize how many bugs are in their code, or they’re very unlucky.”
Well golly gee whiz, Charlie, no wonder Apple missed your stuff — they were so doggone busy covering Adobe’s arse and it’s one big ol’ butt load o’ vulnerabilities at 55.
Who loves the “whole web” now?
