Apple’s iPhone, iPad and Mac holiday sales rocked

January 4, 2011

It looks as if Apple’s sales over the holidays, including iPhone, iPad and Mac computer sales, were wild indeed, leading analysts to believe that Apple will report another record quarter this month.

There seems to be no stopping Apple yet, despite the best efforts of all the other smartphone and tablet computer makers in the world. The Cupertino powerhouse had already seen excellent sales through the last fiscal quarter of 2010, and apparently holiday sales ended their revenue year with a bang. Chris Whitmore, an analyst with Deutsche Bank, says that his company did checks on 50 Apple and Apple partner retail stores during the holiday sales season, according to an AppleInsider story. What they found at those stores was large crowds of Apple product shoppers at bustling stores that had, generally, enough stock to handle the demand.

Sales of the iPhone were termed as “robust” and iPad sales were “largely unchanged” which is not a bad thing when sales were already off the charts worldwide. Whitmore is so hyped on the iPad that he is looking forward to sales of 28 million units in 2011, up from an earlier estimate of 22 million. Whitmore also noted that sales of the iPad models with 3G connectivity were the hot sellers over the holidays. It does not appear as if rumors of a Verizon iPhone and an all-new iPad coming out in June had any adverse effect on sales at all. He also mentioned that sales of the $999 MacBook Air were larger than anticipated.

Whitmore noted, “Apple continues to benefit from the strongest product offering in its history and the strong double-barreled product cycle is driving massive global demand for iPads and iPhones. Both categories are benefiting from additional carriers, international expansion, and limited competition. … We expect a CDMA based iPhone to be a significant positive for AAPL with limited cannibalization at AT&T. Our DB colleague Brett Feldman, who covers Telecom Services, estimates that Verizon will add roughly 15M iPhones in 2011 with 6M cannibalized from AT&T.”

Seriously, I live close to the 59th Street store. I’ve noticed 4 people purchasing the iPad and grabbing cases, headphones, and other accessories. Well, you can get all of this online from other stores at a lower price.

Second, there was a line for iPad, iPods, and the Macbook Air… I don’t get how Steve does this? People where buying this stuff as if it was cheap.

This lady and man, purchased 2 iPad right in front of me and hand the bangs to the kids to carry. WOW!! I wish I had someone by me a device like this when i was younger.

Amazing! The store was packed and people was still picking up accessories which can be purchased on line for 20 to 40% cheaper.
    (Just the accessories).
