More Apple gear, Genius Bar coming to Best Buy
Paying full Apple prices and being subjected, voluntarily or otherwise, to the Geek Squad is something no one should endure. Soon, for a lucky few, a bigger selection of Macs, iPads and more will be arriving at Best Buy and the cherry on top will be in-store Genius Bar service.
Un petit oiseau has been whispering in ears over at TUAW and the tale it tells is an interesting one, especially for those of us living in provincial U.S. backwaters unworthy of a proper Apple Store.
An anonymous tipster who works at a Best Buy store let us know this morning that he was informed by his Apple rep that the Apple section of the computer department will be going through a transition sometime this Spring to allow more products to be displayed. At the same time, the stores will get a Genius Bar, up to this time a fixture only at Apple Stores.”
Apple trained and motivated service personnel coming to a Best Buy out here in BFE? Well, given that it took Best Buy years just to establish a proper Apple section — about 120 square feet — at my local store staffed by a single, non-plural Apple guy, I won’t start holding my breath just yet…
