Flash: Steve Jobs taking medical leave of absence
No details are available, and may not be for a while, but Apple CEO Steve Jobs has just sent an email to all Apple employees stating that he is taking a leave of absence, starting immediately.
This is not the first medical leave Steve has taken, and we all remember the furor caused by the last one, and the difficulty in getting detailed information about his condition. During that leave, Jobs received a new liver. Tim Cook will be filling in for Jobs in day-to-day duties, but Jobs says he will remain Apple’s CEO and will be involved in all major strategic decisions. Here is the text of his email to employees:
Team,
At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.
I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.
Steve
As he did the last time, Jobs requested that the privacy of he and his family be respected. This medical leave comes at a time when Apple is finalizing details of the new iPhone 5 and iPad 2, two of the products that have allowed Apple to be so successful, and with which Jobs has been deeply involved. Investors will almost certainly begin to indicate their concern, as many see Jobs as being indispensable to Apple’s continued growth. We will continue to watch this story and keep you informed.

Oh No!! Not again!

I am not sure if I am placing this in the right location, but I am preparing to relocate to the U . S . and am trying to secure employment in the technology industry. I have a job lead with a business and wanted some thoughts on the easiest method to research them to see if they might be a good organization to work for. I’ve checked on their webbage, but thought somebody here could have some other suggestions on exactly where to look. Thank you.
