Apple iTunes turns 10 with App Store in tow

January 10, 2011

Yesterday, Apple’s iTunes project turned ten years old, if you can believe it, showing that some things do really last on the Web, and also that some things can evolve and get better in the right hands.

Verizon iPhone: Unlimited data, no restocking fees and, yes, unicorns

January 10, 2011

Lots of unicorns. Although there’s no question that Verizon will be holding a special invitation-only media event at the Lincoln Center in New York, pretty much all of the other details Blorge and others have been reporting can at best be characterized as mere rumors. That said, as a person who’s waited three-and-a-half long years for the Verizon iPhone, I really wanna believe them all.

Pensioners demand to know Jobs succession plan

January 9, 2011

For me at least, the idea of a demanding pensioner conjures up the image of an irate granny with sharp elbows and a handbag of deadly proportions. However, the reality is that the people behind this move are more likely to be sharp toothed lawyers in silk suits.

Rose: iPad 2 to debut in 3, 4 weeks

January 8, 2011

Given all of the noise we’ve been hearing from Apple’s Asian supply chain, this seems to be a pretty safe bet. Further, specifics the Digg founder does provide re-inforce what’s already been said. So, why’s he schlepping reheated rumors? To promote his newest online venture and, no, it’s not free.

Mac App Store: 1-million apps sold, DRM cracked

January 7, 2011

Surprise, surprise — Apple’s got another huge success on its hands. Mac App Store: Lots o’ games, broad price spread

January 7, 2011

Graphs and bullet points — what would we do without them? Honestly, meetings would be a lot longer and we’d get a lot less done and less accurately at that. Although it’s still very early in the game, what can soundbite-sized chunks of data tell us about Apple’s Mac App Store?

OS X 10.6.6 delivers Mac App Store

January 6, 2011

Although the Consumer Electronics Show is running in Lost Wages (a.k.a. Las Vegas) as we speak, the news is dominated by our favorite fruit company, which has launched the Mac App Store. Thereupon, to get in on the fun you’ll need to download Apple’s latest Mac operating system update — come inside for the full monty.

Mac App Store opens with 1,000-plus apps

January 6, 2011

As promised, the mothership has delivered. It’s all dependent on a Mac OS X 10.6.6, which is available via Software Update. With some A-list launch partners, as well as the company’s own iWork, iLife and Aperture on offer there’s a lot to dig into and mull over as Apple makes an obvious play at hijacking the CES hype.

CES brings Xoom, other Apple iPad rivals

January 6, 2011

It has taken rival companies about nine months to give birth to their copies of Apple’s iPad, which they seem intent upon doing at CES in Las Vegas. Are they better than those tablets which were born prematurely?
