A gift of omission or commission? Whether this feature was intentional or not, a Wi-Fi only iPad 2 owner in Virginia was gobsmacked to discover that his tablet was receiving GPS data when tethered to his iPhone 4. Additionally, DisplayMate reports that its tests show the new iPad’s display is almost as good as the iPhone’s Retina display.

What was brown and had all the market appeal of bull shitake? Less than five years after they pushed out the first model Microsoft has killed the Zune, recalling back day in the claims by CEO Steve Ballmer et al that Redmond would invest “hundreds of millions and “we can beat” Apple and the iPod.

It’s so nice to hear an important person state, flat out, that Adobe’s Flash is unworthy and, thereupon, has no future. Granted, it’s such an obvious truth, but you might not be getting the message if you use Android.

This welcome whole number release comes to market sans legacy PowerPC support, but we’ve gained a very long list of features. Social networking integration might seem a little nebulous, but there’s also enhanced iLife integration and a greatly improved user interface — there’s a lot to like about Toast 11.

Analysts have deliberated, thought the question through and decided that tablets, a.k.a. the iPad, are eating PC makers’ lunch, having already banished netbooks and now significantly denting portables and laptops. However, computers made by Apple are not only unaffected, sales are booming.

Samsung’s “inadequate” Galaxy Tab mea culpa was refreshingly honest if ill advised from a PR perspective. That said, you’ve gotta know that Motorola is looking at the Xoom (pick the competitor + product pair that reeks most of desperation) and thinks the same thing — how can we save face, turn this around and get back in the game? Sadly, it doesn’t look like they will be able to any time soon.

This could prove to be a rumor too far. That is, some unnamed industry type claims that big name U.S. retailer wants to give Apple tablets to its sale floor associates, but apparently hasn’t said in so many words that it’s Best Buy. That, however, is the conclusion we’re supposed to leap, so forgive me if I close my eyes.

No matter how you slice it, Apple’s price protection is pretty a good deal, unless you happened to be one of the people who purchased a day or so before the cut off. C’est la vie. If you’re eligible, don’t sit around waiting for someone to call and offer you money or chance to upgrade — ain’t gonna happen.

The super secret Apple Store associate meeting on Sunday wasn’t about the iPad 2 or enhancements to MobileMe. The company did, however, brief employees about a new small business program offering priority service, support and training to those that pay.
