March 16, 2011

A gift of omission or commission? Whether this feature was intentional or not, a Wi-Fi only iPad 2 owner in Virginia was gobsmacked to discover that his tablet was receiving GPS data when tethered to his iPhone 4. Additionally, DisplayMate reports that its tests show the new iPad’s display is almost as good as the iPhone’s Retina display.

Ding-dong the Zune is dead

March 15, 2011

What was brown and had all the market appeal of bull shitake? Less than five years after they pushed out the first model Microsoft has killed the Zune, recalling back day in the claims by CEO Steve Ballmer et al that Redmond would invest “hundreds of millions and “we can beat” Apple and the iPod.

‘HTML5 is the future,’ says Mozilla VP

March 14, 2011

It’s so nice to hear an important person state, flat out, that Adobe’s Flash is unworthy and, thereupon, has no future. Granted, it’s such an obvious truth, but you might not be getting the message if you use Android.

March 11, 2011

This welcome whole number release comes to market sans legacy PowerPC support, but we’ve gained a very long list of features. iPad says, ‘Halo, Mac’

March 10, 2011

Free iPads for Best Buy employees

March 7, 2011

This could prove to be a rumor too far. That is, some unnamed industry type claims that big name U.S. retailer wants to give Apple tablets to its sale floor associates, but apparently hasn’t said in so many words that it’s Best Buy. That, however, is the conclusion we’re supposed to leap, so forgive me if I close my eyes.

Recent iPad buyers to get $100 refund

March 4, 2011

No matter how you slice it, Apple’s price protection is pretty a good deal, unless you happened to be one of the people who purchased a day or so before the cut off. C’est la vie. If you’re eligible, don’t sit around waiting for someone to call and offer you money or chance to upgrade — ain’t gonna happen.

March 4, 2011

The super secret Apple Store associate meeting on Sunday wasn’t about the iPad 2 or enhancements to MobileMe. The company did, however, brief employees about a new small business program offering priority service, support and training to those that pay.
