Apple, it’s a hit
Trouble with Verizon? Cupertino could buy the carrier and still have plenty of cabbage left to take New York City to Disney World for a couple weeks. Or, Steve Jobs could, assuming federal regulators would let him, just acquire all of the U.S. wireless carriers and still not scrape bottom.
San Jose Business Journal has read through a Moody’s report detailing corporate cash holdings and crowned Apple lords of the stash. With $60 billion on the books at the end of last year and a further $12 billion added since — that’s $72 billion in walking around money — no other company comes close.
Moreover, Apple’s cash holdings have doubled since 2006 and are likely to treble within three years to $238 billion. Given their growth curve, which if anything seems to be accelerating (iPhone, +142 percent; iPad, 183 percent; Mac, 14 percent), tripling what’s in their penny jar might not take that long.
Share it fairly…
Thereupon, whereas Pink Floyd’s David Gilmore muses he should buy a football team, perhaps Apple could buy FIFA. Seriously, if anyone can make Americans love “footie,” Steve Jobs is it…

It’s a good idea. Verizon makes more money than Apple.
