PBS to air ‘One last thing’ Jobs biopic

October 27, 2011

On and on it goes, though I’m still eating up. Come next Wednesday America’s Public Broadcasting System will show what probably will be the last major tribute to the erstwhile Apple CEO. The big reveal with this broadcast is the inclusion of video footage from Robert X. Cringely’s 1994 interview with Jobs. Step inside for the details, where to tune in.

PBS has announced it will air Steve Jobs – One Last Thing (local listings), an inside look at the man and the major influences that helped shape his life and career.

“You tend to get told that the world is the way it is, but life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact; and that is that everything around you that you call life was made up by people no smarter than you,” said Jobs in the Cringely interview, which until recently was believed to have been lost. “Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”

One Last Thing features interviews with Apple co-founder Ronald Wayne, Ross Perot, who invested in NeXT Computer when Jobs was running out of money; Walt Mossberg, principal technology columnist for The Wall Street Journal, who interviewed Jobs every year from 2003-2010; will.i.am, frontman and producer for The Black Eyed Peas, whose I Gotta Feeling currently ranks as the most downloaded iTunes song ever; Dean Hovey, designer of the original mouse for Apple; Robert Cringely, writer and host of the PBS series Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires; Robert Palladino, calligraphy professor at Reed College; and Bill Fernandez, who introduced Jobs and Wozniak in Sunnyvale.

That said, One Last Thing is billed as an “unflinching look,” which makes me wonder when someone will do a biopic that gathers together all of the people with an axe to grind, no holds barred? TMZ or someone of their ilk is sure to…

What’s your take?
