When is iTunes 11 arriving? Probably Nov. 14

November 10, 2012

New iPad, new iMacs, new MacBooks, but wheres our new iTunes?

Maybe you didn’t catch it, but in the midst of announcing a new iPhone 5, iPad Mini, new iPods and more, Apple also mentioned that it’s going to update iTunes to version 11. iTunes 11 was expected to arrive in October, as Apple promised in September, but it’s looking more like November now.

An Apples spokesperson confirmed that Apple software engineers are still working to try and “get it right” before releasing the new music player.

The exact quote:

“The new Tunes is taking longer than expected and we wanted to take a little extra time to get it right. We look forward to releasing this new version of iTunes with its dramatically simpler and cleaner interface, and seamless integration with iCloud before the end of November.

The newest version of iTunes is completely redesigned, including the iTunes store, and is expected to further integrate with iCloud. As of now, iCloud works quite well with iTunes. If you download a song on your iPhone, it automatically downloads into your music player

The new iCloud integration will actually stream the music you’ve purchased from any iOS device, saving space on your hard drive. Of course, you do have the option to download it if you’re taking your Mac with you on the go.

The new iTunes store will mimic the updated version that’s currently found in the iOS iTunes store, which Apple claims makes it easier to ind the music you want the most. The Genius feature is also enhanced, and will give you plenty of recommendations for you. (All of this means more money for Apple!)

So when is iTunes 11 coming out? Well, before November for sure. Cult of Mac predicts it will come out this Wednesday, Nov. 14.

“The best way to tell what Apple is going to do in the future is usually to look at what they’ve done in the past. Luckily, we’ve got a lot of data on when Apple has released new iTunes versions in the past. Over the last 11 years, in fact, Apple has released eighty-four different versions of iTunes.”

Is iTunes 11 something we should be really excited about?
