Britain’s advertising regulators have banned a TV commercial for the 3G edition of the iPhone. The Advertising Standards Authority said Apple had exaggerated the speed at which the device can send and receive data.

Apple has been hit with what appears to be an ambitious lawsuit claiming it stole the technology used for internet surfing on cellphone screens. It comes at the same time as yet another case alleging false advertising over the iPhone’s performance.

The company behind many popular Facebook-based games has found a creative way to harness the iPhone’s accelerometer. ‘iFun’ will allow users to play computer games using either the iPhone or the iPod touch as a handheld controller in the style of the Nintendo Wii.

IBM’s legal action to block a former exec taking up a position with Apple has become a high stakes game. Not only is Mark Papermaster countersuing IBM, but the judge in the original case has ordered the firm to pay a $3 million deposit into court.
