Apple Store 2.0: Order on the go, pick up on the fly

November 8, 2011

Shop, buy, track and pick up. The niftier features in this release are US only and require a newer iPhone — 4 or 4S only. Enterprise should embrace HEROes

October 28, 2011

If you’re gonna flip flop, do it with gusto. Apparently, that’s the attitude taken by Forrester Research which has for years — credit for consistency — strongly advocated against Macs. Now, the enterprise consultant not only says Macs are good, they’re promoting digital diversity and have created an acronym to push the concept.

Mac rocks Apple’s Q4 [u]

October 18, 2011

Upon hearing that Apple posted a net profit of $6.62 billion on revenues of $28.27 billion, or $7.05 per share, “investors” prompted sent AAPL lower — go figure. The company beat its own guidance, but fell short of analyst expectations. What’s up with that? Consumers held off buying ahead of the iPhone 4S and that led to the “disappointing” results.

Before the lawyers, Jobs’ peace overture rebuffed

September 29, 2011

Undergrads: Macs popular, PlayBook doesn’t exist

September 19, 2011

Users and pundits alike have panned Apple’s 2011 Back to School promotion, sparking some analysts to predict poor Mac sales. However, data from the real world points robust Mac sales, though the same survey raises questions about iPhone and iPad popularity at US universities.

September 13, 2011

New kit coming and who doesn’t like fresh gear? Recently, the mothership rolled updated Airport Extreme Base Station and Time Capsule hub, bringing full 450Mbps throughput — soon coming to Airport Express, too, before Apple’s much anticipated iCloud reveal.

August 27, 2011

Apple has been on the receiving of geek grief and angst for suing competitors over use of its App Store trademark. Whereas the technorati argue the term should be viewed as generic and ubiquitous, they miss the obvious point that it was Apple who made it that way. And, yeah, they own it, too.
